Animals have become a regular sight at South West Galvanizers Ltd’s Crediton
plant in Devon. The four-legged visitors are all outstanding artworks by award-winning
master
blacksmith Richard Bent, whose Red Anvil Studio is at Modbury.
Richard, who has been National Champion Blacksmith three times and is a Fellow
of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, recently chose South West to galvanize
a magnificent red deer which was commissioned to adorn a golf course in Somerset.

He also produced an incredible opening screen and gates for a large estate in
Hampshire, featuring roe deer, a tree, foxgloves and cow parsley.
The huge gates weigh nearly two tonnes and were, as Richard explained: "hot forged,
welded and hot dip galvanized, then finished with an acid etch primer, which was
in turn lightly abraded" to produce this stunning result.
