B. E. Wedge has successfully completed a contract to galvanize foundation bars
– or ‘tie rods’ – for the international petro-chemical industry. The threaded
fixing bars, weighing around 50 tonnes in total, were manufactured for export
to the oil-rich Persian Gulf state of Qatar by B. E. Wedge’s customers, based
in Scotland and North-East England.
The bars measure over 1.3 metres in length and have diameters of 56mm and 64mm.
They were made by a specialist bolts and fixings company to be used to secure
steel structures to concrete foundations in Qatar’s major oil and gas producing
area.
B. E. Wedge’s Technical Sales Representative, Lee Dickens, says: “B. E. Wedge
was delighted to be involved in a major export project on behalf of our customers.
We are proud that we were selected to galvanize these steel bars for one of the
most important industries in the world.”
