A unique and spectacular pair of entrance gates, specially designed for a private
house at Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District, has been galvanized for maximum
protection against the wet and windy local weather by Pillar-Wedge of Heywood
Lancs.
The highly-individual curved gates, described as having a ìdynamic ripple effect
which is asymmetricalî to represent moving water, are the creation of specialist
architectural metalworkers and sculptors Chris Brammall Ltd, based at Ulverston,
Cumbria.
The steel profiles of the automated gates, together with balustrades and hand
rails for the property, were hot-dip galvanized by the Wedge Group company in
Lancashire before receiving a T-wash and lacquer finish. Lakeland stone sections
were inserted at the base to give another texture and add weight.
Pillar-Wedge's Danny Flynn said: Chris Brammall and his team have vast experience
in creating public artworks, private commissions and other commercial steel designs,
which they have galvanized to provide longevity of the finish. We were delighted
to be contracted to carry out the galvanizing of these superb and eye-catching
gates. They should prove to be a real bonus for Bowness!
