Steel is Africa Bound

Leading West Midlands galvanizing specialist B. E. Wedge Ltd has successfully completed its latest contract for a major development project abroad; in this case, 40 tonnes of vital components for a new railway line in Algeria, in North Africa.
B. E. Wedge galvanized more than 2,800 brackets, each weighing 14kg, which will be used to support an electrified conductor rail for the new six-mile long electric link line in Algiers, capital of Africaís second-largest country. The line is part of a massive upgrade programme for the transport system around Algiers.

The galvanizing contract was awarded to B. E. Wedge by its customer, Redstart Design Limited, based in Chard, Somerset; an independent UK company specializing in high quality, bespoke design and manufacturing services for the worldwide engineering, automotive and rail industries. Among Redstart's other current projects is new Metro rail network in Dubai.

Lee DIckens, of B. E. Wedge Ltd, said: "We have completed a number of galvanizing contracts for projects abroad, but this is certainly one of the largest. We were delighted to be awarded this prestigious international contract for one of Africa's major cities, and we are very confident that the quality of the galvanizing here at B. E. Wedge will prove to be second to none."
