Steel cattle and sheep pens for a completely new livestock auction market at
the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire - home of the Royal
Agricultural Societyís annual Royal Show - have been successfully galvanized by
Peterborough-based East Anglian Galvanizing on behalf of two specialist clients.
In total, around 250 pens were galvanized for the new facility, which is within
the existing 5,000 sq. m. sheep building at Stoneleigh. Steel fabrication specialists
T. J. Agricultural Ltd of Lutterworth in Leicestershire manufactured 100 purpose-built
steel cattle pens and other steelwork, while Modulamb of Coventry, which specializes
in sheep handling equipment produced almost 150, 6ft x 6ft sheep pens for the
market.
Stoneleighís new fully-covered Rugby Farmersí Mart replaces the traditional Rugby
Cattle Market in the centre of the nearby town, and has been built with a total
investment of £770,000. The new market is due to be officially opened in June,
by Lord Plumb, the former President of the European Parliament and a former National
Farmersí Union President.
Selwyn Parrish, Commercial Manager at East Anglian Galvanizing, whose galvanizing
plant is in Wareley Road, said: "This has been a major galvanizing contract for
us which we carried out over a period of three months for two of our key account
customers. Everyone at East Anglian Galvanizing is delighted that we were selected
to carry out this very high-profile contract for the UKís agricultural industry."
