A dramatic one-off metal sculpture of a heron, with a wingspan of nearly two
metres, has been galvanized for maximum "in-flight" protection by Heywood-based
Pillar-Wedge.
The big bird is the work of sculptor and architectural metalwork specialist Chris
Brammall of Chris Brammall Ltd, from Ulverston, Cumbria.
After being hot-dip galvanized for maximum anti-corrosion and damage protection,
and then finished with T-wash and lacquer, the sculpture was donated for installation
at Windermere Junior School in the Lake District.
Complete with reeds and water ripples which were profile cut, the hand-forged
mild steel sculpture is sure to create a splash at the school.
Chris Brammall Ltd has many years' experience in commercial and private metalwork
commissions, including many for the Cumbria and wider north-west region. Examples
include a beautiful new footbridge at Skelwith Bridge near Ambleside.
Danny Flynn of Pillar-Wedge said: "This heron sculpture is very much Chris Brammallís
own individual design. His decision to galvanize private artworks such as this,
as well as his companyís more mainstream commercial enterprises, clearly shows
the versatility of hot-dip galvanizing to protect all kinds of steelwork."
