Scottish scores a winner at St. Mirren

Scottish Galvanizers has successfully completed the galvanizing of 240 tonnes of structural steel for the brand new ‘home’ of Scottish Premier League team, St Mirren FC.

The famous club is building a new 8,000-seater stadium at Greenhill Road, Paisley, after selling its former ground at Love Street for development.

The new stadium is due to be opened for next season and stage its first league match in January 2009.

Scottish Galvanizers, based at Maclellan Street, Glasgow, carried out the galvanizing of the steel for the new stands on behalf of its long-term customer, specialist construction company Barr Limited, whose headquarters are at Inchinnan Road, Paisley.

Paul Tait, Customer Services Manager at Scottish Galvanisers, said: ”This has been a highly important construction-based contract for us, which involved galvanizing the steel for a completely new, state-of-the-art football stadium here in our own local area.  St. Mirren consider themselves a true community club and have a proud history, winning the Scottish Cup on three occasions and the top honour of the old first division title under the leadership of none other than Alex Ferguson back in 1977.”
