Wessex Galvanizers has galvanized 40 tonnes of box-section steel posts and curved
roof sections for the first in a series of steel-framed, polythene clad buildings
to be erected at the Ballinrees Water Treatment Works.
The structures have been designed to enclose and protect the advanced, automated
water filtration and dissolved air flotation systems by Wessex’s customer, Polybuild
Limited of Washington, West Sussex. The company specializes in low-cost durable
buildings for a range of industries and applications, including horticulture and
farming.
In total, 120 frames were galvanized for the first structure - which covers an
area of around 50m by 62m. The special buildings are necessary to prevent rainwater
and other air-borne contamination from getting into the high-tech water treatment
system at the Ballinrees site.
Richard Whiddett, Sales Manager at Wessex Galvanizers, said: ”These buildings
are renowned for being highly cost-effective and long-lasting. They will play
a vital part in protecting the water treatment plant for many years to come.
“This major investment in improving water quality and treating waste water is
clearly very important for many people in Northern Ireland, and the environment
in the region. We were very pleased to be asked to galvanize the steel for such
a major development.”
