EAST ANGLIAN GALVANIZING LTD EMPLOYEE'S MAMMOTH MARATHON MISSION

Selwyn Parrish, Commercial Manager at Sawtry-based East Anglian Galvanizing Ltd is preparing to complete five marathons during April to raise funds for Diabetes UK.

Over the past 18 months, Selwyn’s wife Michelle (who has had Type 1 diabetes for more than 40 years), has faced complications which has seen her spend eight of those months in hospital receiving vital treatment and support.

Commenting on his forthcoming mission, Selwyn said: “I’ve completed many marathons during my life, all in aid of a variety of wonderful causes and charities, and this challenge that I’m embarking on is no exception. I wanted to do my bit for a charity that is not only personally important to me and my family, but which is working to tackle and beat the causes of diabetes, and supports those impacted by the condition.”

Selwyn’s quintuple marathon challenge will commence on the 1st April in Milton Keynes, with the Manchester marathon following a week later, with Brighton, London and Stirling all taking place throughout the month.

General Manager at East Anglian Galvanizing Ltd, Paul Bayford, commented: “Selwyn is a passionate and dedicated fundraiser and has taken part in some fantastic events over the years for some hugely worthwhile causes.  The whole team here wishes him all the very best for this latest challenge, which is set to be his toughest to date!”
