Acrow Galvanizing has pledged its support to a long-standing customer who has created a lasting legacy in memory of a talented young rugby player.
The Saffron-Walden-based plant was asked to galvanize a memorial bench on behalf of Fakenham-based RBS Engineering Limited in tribute to 18 year old Craig Prior who tragically passed away in February.
A keen young rugby player and member of Fakenham Rugby Club, Craig lived just a few doors down from Company Director Ralph Burton, who together with his business partner Barry Sofrin, wanted to create the bench as a tribute to him. Acrow Galvanizing was approached by RBS Engineering to hot-dip the steel used to create the bench, and the team was so moved by the cause that it offered to provide its galvanizing service on a complimentary basis.
Ralph and Barry both knew Craig and his family well and wanted to create the bench as a lasting memory of him which those close to Craig could enjoy for many years to come. “We approached Acrow Galvanizing, who we have worked with for many years, and Commercial Manager John Nicholson kindly galvanized the finished design completely free-of-charge and we are extremely grateful to him and his team,” explained Ralph.
John Nicholson explained: “We have worked on a number of projects over the years on behalf of RBS Engineering, but this is certainly the most heart-rending, and we were delighted to be asked to support the cause.”
