East Anglian Galvanizing, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, has announced a new key appointment within its engineering division, just a month after reporting its most successful first year at its new site.
Richard Baines has come on board as a Maintenance Engineer at the company’s £6million state-of-the-art galvanizing facility in Sawtry.
Peterborough-born Richard will be responsible for maintaining all machinery and equipment within the plant, including a sophisticated furnace and overhead cranes, and ensuring that every part of the process is kept to the highest of standards.
With a background in electrical engineering, Richard brings to his role extensive experience within the field, having previously been responsible for the upkeep of glass cutting and assembling machines at Solaglas in Peterborough.
Paul Bayford, General Manager at East Anglian Galvanizing, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard to the team, and with his in-depth knowledge across the engineering field, we know he will be a great asset to us.
“Following significant investment in our brand new plant here at Sawtry twelve months ago, and the installation of high-tech and specialist equipment, it was vital that we increased the size of our maintenance team to ensure optimum efficiency.”
“Our move has facilitated a huge increase in capacity, and due to the plant now being able to operate 24-hours a day, Richard’s new role has become increasingly important. As we continue to expand our operation, we look forward to welcoming additional members of staff across the organisation,” Paul concluded.
