East Anglian Galvanizing, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, is celebrating its most successful year yet after moving into brand new premises exactly twelve months ago.
The galvanizing expert has moved from its previous plant in Woodston, Peterborough where it had been located for over 60 years, to a £6million new state-of-the-art facility in Sawtry.
The new facility includes a deeper and wider galvanizing bath, which has facilitated an increase in capacity, as well as in the types of work the firm is now able to process, including sports field fencing and animal enclosures. Over the past year, the company’s customer base has increased by 15%, while it has also seen its local market grow by over 10%.
With a number of built-in green technology features including an integrated rainwater collection and storage system, the firm is able to recycle large volumes of water into the galvanizing process, eliminating ‘run-off’ from site and reducing the use of mains water.
Modern design has also resulted in the improvement of delivery and collection procedures, and an enhanced process layout of the plant has enabled a more efficient and resourceful production line.
Selwyn Parrish, Sales and Commercial Manager at East Anglian Galvanizing, said: “Since our move to new premises this time last year, we have seen significant improvements in the working environment for our staff, as well as in output and productivity on behalf of our customers.
“We are now able to operate 24 hours a day, ensuring a quicker turnaround for customers, and a new overnight service has been introduced which has seen our average lead times reduce from four days to two.”
Selwyn added: “Our growth over the past twelve months has also meant that we have been able to take on four new members of staff from the local area, and we are hoping to undertake further recruitment over the coming months.”
