Newport Galvanizers Ltd provided its specialist hot-dip galvanizing treatment free of charge to the team at Horatio’s Garden, which is working on a dedicated garden for the new, purpose-built Spinal and Neurological Centre at the University Hospital, Llandough.
Kathryn Furnell, Marketing Manager at Horatio’s Garden, explained: “We were invited by the hospital to develop a new garden for patients and visitors of the Spinal and Neurological Centre, which is due to open later this year.
"We approached the team at Newport Galvanizers Ltd to make good on the finish of the edging which is being used between the garden and paths. They quickly came to the rescue to provide a proper protection to the metal, and we’re thrilled to see the garden coming together just as we pictured it.”
Horatio’s Garden’s design will ensure there are plenty of sheltered spaces for patients, their loved ones and NHS staff. It is being designed by architects 6a in collaboration with award-winning designer Sarah Price, and will feature a great deal of glass to ensure lots of natural light enters the space.
Mike Small, Commercial Manager at Newport Galvanizers Ltd, added: “I was contacted by Emma to provide a quote to fix and galvanize the edging used at the site, but decided to do it free of charge to recognise the incredible service that we’ve received from the fantastic NHS throughout the pandemic. We’re delighted to see how the site is progressing and are looking forward to seeing it unveiled later this year.”
