East Anglian Galvanizing has opened its doors to industry professionals giving them a glimpse behind the scenes at its £6m state-of-the-art premises.
The firm, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, held an open day for members of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) at its site in Sawtry, to celebrate a successful year of trading and to thank customers and suppliers for their continued support.
Visitors enjoyed a presentation on the company and its facilities by Eastern Regional Director, Steve Milnes, before being given a full tour of the plant by General Manager at East Anglian Galvanizing, Paul Bayford, where they witnessed the whole galvanizing process from start to finish.
Colin Britton, FICorr, MRSC, of the Institute of Corrosion said: “I very much enjoyed my visit to Sawtry, it was a pleasure to see such a modern plant which was obviously very well managed and run by a highly professional team, and it was so good to see this in England!”
Paul Bayford commented: “After a hugely successful twelve months at our new site following our move from Woodston in Peterborough, we wanted to take this opportunity to demonstrate exactly what we do and to showcase our technologically-advanced facilities.
“Our brand new premises have enabled us to increase capacity significantly, and due to its out-of-town location, means that we are able to operate 24 hours a day, bringing huge benefits to our customers not only within the local area, but across the UK as a whole.
“Our galvanizing work is extensive, ranging from worldwide sporting stadiums and housing developments to single sculptures and staircases, and we hope that by having held this unique event, we can highlight just what we can offer individuals and businesses across the region.”
