Organised by the Galvanizers Association, the first-of-its-kind Industrial Open Day took place on 12th September and saw a total of 36 galvanizing sites opened for tours, 10 of which were Wedge Group Galvanizing plants. “We were delighted with the turn-out to our event,” Tony Linsley, Sales Manager, explained.
“It’s especially important for us to showcase to architects the performance of galvanizing compared to other protective finishes, particularly as many more contractors are recognising the cost-effectiveness of long-term protection against steel corrosion.”
Fellow Business Club members of Hull UK City of Culture were invited to attend as well as members of the local business community, who were all able to see a demonstration of the galvanizing process and a tour of the plant’s facilities.
“As a firm, we’re celebrating 21 years since opening our doors at the Citadel Trading Park, and Councillor Pete Allen kindly unveiled a plaque in recognition of the milestone. We were also pleased to welcome Business Club members of Hull UK City of Culture 2017 which created a real sense of the local business community coming together to learn about the diverse range of products and services offered across the city.
“This first event was very much focused around the specification of galvanizing by architects, and helping them to understand the hot-dip galvanizing process in more depth and the science behind how it works. We thoroughly enjoyed the event and look forward to hosting more in the near future,” Tony concluded.
