Merseyside Galvanizers has teamed up with Enfys Engineering, to galvanize a number of life-sized poppies which have been installed at the Garden of Remembrance at Dolgarrog’s War Memorial, Conway.
The poppies were designed by renowned Welsh artist Giovanni Angelo Jacovelli, with each flower weighing approximately 250 kilograms.
Richard Smetham, Sales Manager at Merseyside Galvanizing, said: “We were thrilled when we had the poppies delivered to our plant by our regular customers, Enfys Engineering. They signify such an important part in history and as they were installed in 2014, they mark the centenary of WWI perfectly.”
Carys Williams of Enfys Engineering, added: “They are a fantastic addition to the memorial and will give visitors a special and unique way to remember those that were lost in the war. The galvanizing element was a necessity for such a decorative monument as it protects the steel from weathering and rust, and requires no regular maintenance.”
