Worksop Galvanizing has teamed up with the global leader in galvanizing plant equipment to install a new galvanizing kettle that will not only increase productivity but also help it to become considerably ‘greener’.
The company called in Birmingham-based Hasco-Thermic to enhance the design of their furnace after they identified a need to replace its existing kettle, which had been installed more than ten years ago.
The furnace modification incorporates a number of environmentally-friendly features, including technologically-advanced, fuel-efficient burners and a new combustion system with a variable speed drive that reduces electrical consumption on hire fire.
Paul Robinson, Sales Manager at Worksop Galvanizing, said: “As a plant, we are wholly committed to ensuring our processes are as sustainable as possible, and we are delighted that our new galvanizing bath includes many features which will help us to be ‘greener’. We are already delighted with the new system, and are very much looking forward to passing the benefits onto our own customers.”
Angela Curtis, Managing Director of Hasco-Thermic, said: “To maintain consistency of both quality of output, and work processes within the plant, the modifications enhanced the design of the furnace by using more sophisticated features.”
She added: “The original kettle incorporated a six burner, high velocity system which proved highly efficient over its extensive lifespan, but this enhanced furnace now includes brand new, larger burners which have been installed to improve the hourly production rate, and to ultimately increase the plant’s efficiency and output.”
“As an organisation, we are always looking to identify new processes and systems to enhance our products and service, and due to the specific technological components of this upgrade, Worksop Galvanizing will benefit from better gas consumption and improved electrical consumption, as well as the higher production rates.”
