Worksop Galvanizing has played a role in helping to create a series of transportable hotels that have already been used at a multitude of events across the country.
The plant was called upon by steelworks specialists MJ Robinson, in partnership with Construct Group Limited, to galvanize more than 60 tonnes of steel handrails and walkways used as part of the Snoozebox initiative, where modular, cabin-style temporary hotels are easily installed, demounted and transported between major events and festivals.
Snoozebox provides luxury temporary accommodation in converted shipping containers, which are fully serviced with water, electricity and internet access, as well as all the comforts found in a normal hotel. The containers can be loaded, stacked and transported efficiently to any destination across the UK and Europe, and have proved popular across a range of well-known events this summer, providing a comfortable and cost effective place to stay.
The modular hotels were installed near Windsor Castle where they were used to house performers taking part in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and have also been used at events such as the Isle of Man TT Races, the Download music festival, and the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Paul Robinson, Commercial Manager at Worksop Galvanizing, said: “We are delighted to have been involved in such an innovative and modern concept, and it is a pleasure to work with the Robinson family again.”
Mike Robinson, Director at Derby-based MJ Robinson, commented: “We have a great working relationship with Worksop Galvanizing who we have partnered with for many years. They always provide a quick turnaround time when we require our steel to be protected, we received the steel for this project back fully-galvanised within 48 hours.”
