An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our busy team at Humber Galvanizers Ltd based in Citadel Way, Hull, HU9 1TQ. We are part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, a successful family-owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 14 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanizing process.

What’s the role?

As a Class 1 HGV Driver you will help to deliver our Company’s vision being ‘The Galvanizer of choice’ through being an integral part of a fleet that delivers our high-quality products to our customers.

Main responsibilities include:

• Putting safety first – Ensuring full compliance with all statutory requirements and driving legislation, including company procedures, tachograph monitoring, driving, and road regulations.
• Collecting and delivering steelwork.
• Maintaining good working relationships with customers.
• Complete accurate delivery records and relevant paperwork.
• Responsible for carrying out vehicle inspections.

Who would suit this role?

Demonstrate excellent customer service in your approach to work 
Be able to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative 
Have good geographical area knowledge.
Hold a full and clean Category C licence (minor points may be considered), with Category C+E considered a distinct advantage 
Possess a valid digital tachograph card and full Driver CPC 
Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ HGV driving background, with knowledge of steel deliveries or similar loads considered beneficial. 

What are the benefits?

• Contracted 40 hours per week, with overtime worked as required during busy periods. Hours of work are flexible to meet customer service levels, with typical start times between 06:00 and 08:00. Gross pay of £ 16.97 per hour. 
• Any additional hours will be paid at £16.97 per hour.

Hours?

Contracted 40 hours per week with potential for paid overtime during busy periods. 

Hours of work are flexible to meet the customer service levels but starting times are normally between 06.00 and 08.00am.
