An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Works Manager to join our busy team at Metaltreat Galvanizers in Bradford. We are part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, a successful family-owned business offering secure employment to its employees for over 150 years. We have 14 sites nationwide and apply corrosion protection to all the steel you regularly see around you such as street furniture, lampposts, bridge beams and even football stadiums through our galvanizing process.

What’s the role?
As the Works Manager you will report to the General Manager, providing strong operational leadership across the plant and supporting our mission to be “The Galvanizer of Choice.”
This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring a visible presence on the shop floor and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Main responsibilities include:
• Overseeing day-to-day operation of all our production shifts. This includes effective workforce planning by allocating personnel and resources.
• Liaising with the site functional departments to deliver key operational objectives in line with budget expectations.
• Attending production and senior management meetings.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining SOPs.
• Representing the site’s production function to internal and external stakeholders.
• Championing operating safe working practices within the work environment and investigating incidents.
• Maintaining effective customer relations both directly and through the production teams to deliver the brand promise.
• Providing feedback and support to direct reports including conducting performance reviews.
Who would suit this role?
The role would suit an individual with proven experience in a management or senior supervisory position, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
The successful candidate will have a strong problem-solving ability, excellent leadership skills, and effective communication with a range of stakeholders, along with the capability to develop and support their team.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ensure the efficient operation of the galvanizing process, and consistently display role-model behaviours is crucial.
It is essential that the candidate embodies the Company’s core values (Caring, Integrity and Trusted) and Strategic Priorities (Safety First, Profitable Sales, People Focused and Continuous Improvement) to drive and optimise operational success.
Knowledge of galvanizing would be advantageous.

• A permanent 40-hour contract, with gross pay of £40,000 – £45,000 per annum – dependent upon experience.

Hours?
40 hours per week which are worked in 8-hour slots at some point between 06:00 and 18:00, Monday to Friday inclusive.
