A director at a top galvanizing firm has been supported to become more sustainability-aware by studying for a Master’s degree.

David Nobes, Technical Services Director at Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, is part way through a two-year course in sustainable and ethical business management, with full backing from the firm as part of its ongoing commitment to investing in their people and the planet.

He said: “Sustainability is deemed to be the focus of the next industrial revolution and should be a firm priority for all business owners, as they seek to make more conscious, considered and careful decisions. While the process of galvanizing itself is already incredibly innovative and sustainable, it’s paramount that we’re equally as advanced and novel in everything we do here at Wedge.

“We are proud to do the right things for the right reasons, seeking to achieve above and beyond the obligatory compliance and regulations; as part of this, we’ve established a Sustainability Commitment, which the entire company lives and breathes. Part of the commitment involves a comprehensive carbon reduction journey which has seen significant advancements made across all 14 of our plants.

“I’m very thankful to the company for supporting me during my latest educational feat – studying at Derby university to complete a Master’s degree in Sustainable and Ethical Business Management.”

This course looks at how aspects of a business can be realigned in response to environmental, social, and economic global demands, while challenging individuals to critically review business behaviours, development and processes.

David added: “It’s a privilege to have access to this information and the learning opportunity. I regularly share this knowledge with my colleagues, who’re all driven by the same passion and motivation to be kinder to our planet and ensure the longevity of Wedge Group Galvanizing.”
