The UK’s largest hot-dip galvanizing company has welcomed a record-breaking number of guests as part of the Galvanizers Association’s 2026 Industry Open Day, drawing hundreds of visitors from a range of sectors across the country.

Organised by the Galvanizers Association, the Open Day brings member plants across the country together to open their doors on the same day. Architects, engineers, contractors, designers and other construction professionals are invited in to see galvanizing in action and extend their understanding of the process.

Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd participated in the event, welcoming a combined 334 visitors across 13 of its 15 nationwide sites – its biggest cohort of attendees to-date.

Guests were given an introduction to hot-dip galvanizing through a series of short films produced by Wedge Group Galvanizing and the Galvanizers Association, before being taken across the sites to see steel being dipped in molten zinc at a temperature of 450oc.

The process is integral to a variety of sectors but in particular is the finish of choice across construction, engineering and manufacturing, thanks to its inherent sustainable qualities and its ability to protect steelwork for a lifetime with little to no maintenance or downtime.

The event forms part of the Galvanizers Association ongoing efforts to promote understanding of galvanizing across industry, education and the wider public. The event saw a significant uplift in attendance compared to previous years, reflecting growing interest in how galvanized steel supports sustainable construction and manufacturing, as well as its important role across agriculture, transport, and artwork.
