South East Galvanizers Plays Key Role in RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026 Installation

South East Galvanizers Ltd, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, has provided hot-dip galvanizing services for a striking steel pavilion which featured at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026, fabricated by specialist steel contractor Cake Industries.

The structure formed the centrepiece of the “Bring Me Sunshine” Show Garden, created in partnership with the Eden Project, and was designed to serve as both a shelter and outdoor classroom – its form drawing on the organic curves of an upturned oyster shell.

Following the show, the pavilion will be permanently housed at the Eden Project’s new site in Morecambe, where durability in a coastal environment was a key consideration.

Cake Industries specified South East Galvanizers for the project, having worked with the plant for over six years across a diverse range of fabrication projects.

Approximately 1,000kg of steel was galvanized for the installation, with the finish serving a dual purpose: providing long-term corrosion protection suited to the structure’s seaside final location, while also delivering the aesthetic the design team was seeking – the raw, matte appearance of a galvanized and T-washed finish being a deliberate part of the visual language of the piece.

The project brought together an exceptional creative and technical team:

● Architecture: Michaelis Boyd
● Landscape Design: Harry Holding Studio
● Structural Engineering: Cake Engineering
● Geometric Definition: Mule Studio
● Fabrication: Cake Industries
● Installation: Landscape Associates
● Galvanizing: South East Galvanizers (part of Wedge Group Galvanizing)

The “Bring Me Sunshine” garden was at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which ran from 20th – 24th May 2026.

David Knight, Director at Cake Industries, explained: “We’ve worked with South East Galvanizers for a number of years and consistently trust them for projects where both quality and reliability matter. For this piece, the galvanized finish wasn’t just a protective measure, it was part of the design intent, so getting it right was essential.”
